Recently, I found myself faced with the challenge of providing games for my son's kindergarten class Halloween Party. The challenge being finding a game that will appeal and entertain 24 five & 6 year olds with rules and directions easy enough to quickly grasp before the natives get too restless.
So, ReStore to the rescue... again.
So, ReStore to the rescue... again.
These DIY's are loaded with frightening fun and simple enough for your kids to do as well!
$2 Bucket = 2 Spooktacular games!
Always the bargain hunter, I felt that this large stack of these metal 5 gallon buckets with lids for only $2 each found in the outdoor area, was a good place to start.
☆Witch Hat Ring Toss☆
Materials needed:
Bucket Lids
Cardboard Cones
3 x Styrofoam Rings
Glue
Black spray paint
Embellishments
1. Spray paint the bucket lids and card board cones black and let dry.
2. Glue cone to lid
3. Spooktify with ribon, feathers, glitter, etc.
☆Frankenstein's Brain Toss☆
Materials needed:
Buckets
Green (ish) Fabric (I am using a baby blanket I found at ReStore for $1)
Black Duct Tape
Spray Adhesive
Scissors
Puff paint for fabric (I am using black and glow in the dark)
1. Measure and cut your fabric to fit around your bucket, leaving extra room at the top and bottom to fold over the edge.
2. Apply spray adhesive to front center face of bucket and place center of your fabric to adhesive and smooth out any wrinkles.
3. Fold fabric over on one side out of your way and continue to apply spray adhesive around the bucket stretching and smoothing fabric as you work your way to the end and any over lapping of the 2 ends.
4. Apply spray adhesive to inside top of bucket and fold fabric over top and press into glue. Repeat steps for bottom.
5. The black duct tape will serve as the monster's hair. Start at the top rim of bucket and wrap tape completely around 2 times. (You will be giving it a "haircut" later on so the tape should have a bit of wiggle room for the tip of your scissors to get underneath without damaging the fabric).
Drop lower slightly on second pass of tape as well. Cut simple triangular notches in bottom run of tape to make it more "hair" like.
6. Cut duct tape into strips to be used as eyebrows and apply to bucket.
7. Use puff fabric paint to draw your face, stiches, and neckbolts
☆THE BRAIN☆
Materials needed:
1× pack of 4 17 inch or extra large pink balloons
1 bag of flour
Funnel
1. Place funnel inside of the mouth of the balloon.
2. Fill balloon almost full with Flour, leaving enough room to tie off like if it were filled with air. Once filled, carefully and slowly smush out the air inside the balloon and tie closed.
*Note: these are also the steps called for to make a DIY "stress ball" as well.
Until next time...
Andrea
